Would love a quick breakdown of who’s who here
. I do spot an Empirical Labs though, I know they make fun compressors!
Woah, that’s legit.
Sure! So the rack IS my audio interface! It’s pretty cool. It’s the Cranborne Audio 500 R8. It all connects to my computer over 1 USB cable. So I don’t have to go in and out of every module into an interface. The rack is the interface!
From left to right: Cranborne Audio Camden 500 - It’s a preamp with an analog “mojo” circuit. On its own, it’s pretty much the cleanest, most transparent preamp available on the market. Mojo is fully adjustable with 2 saturation circuits, Thump and Cream. Thump targets the low end (like 20hz - 100hz) with transformer-like saturation, and Cream is a full frequency saturation that simulates tubes. Both are 100% analog saturation circuits.
AudioScape V3A - It’s an LA-3A clone with the “Clearmountion Mod”. It’s a tone beast!
Empirical Labs PUMP - Basically a 500 series Distressor! It’s not a 1:1 copy but very, very similar. Based on the same circuit.
HRK CS566 - It’s a full channel strip with compression, EQ, and saturation. It also has a transformer emulation. Honestly, it’s not very good-sounding lol. I don’t recommend it. I’ve never found a use for it, really, but I’ve tried! It’s about to be for sale tho because I have a new stereo unit on the way.
SSL SiX Channel - It’s an SSL Big SiX channel strip. Preamp, 2 bands of EQ, compressor.
BLANK
WesAudio DIONE - SSL G Bus Comp emulation! It’s fully recallable tho. So it has digital control. I basically open a plugin in my DAW and I can use that to recall the settings or even operate the unit! It lives on my stereo buss and sounds fantastic!
I am getting rid of the CS566 and replacing it with a WesAudio RHEA! I’m super excited. The RHEA is a stereo 500 series Vari Mu compressor! Just like the DIONE, it’s digitally controlled and recallable. Should be here in a few weeks!
wow a stereo vari mu comp in a 500 series is cool, and throw digital recall on top of it! sweet!
Ya man, it’s sick!! I have no idea how they got 2 tubes in there lol. It has 2 Interstage Cinemag Transformers too haha! Here’s the link, it’s a killer piece of kit. Can’t wait to get it. It’s on backorder at Sweetwater, but I already have one on hold!
