You can find the preset and a short audio demo here:
I’m playing this kit on an Arturia Keystep MIDI keyboard, so bear with the sloppy playing. Still, it should give you a pretty good idea.
I love old PCM drum machines that go for an acoustic sound, but don’t completely nail it, like the Alesis SR-16, Boss DR-660 and 770, and Casio RZ-1.
Because there’s an uncanny, electronic quality to them, it’s fun to see how close you can get with pure synthesis. So this is my “almost acoustic” kit in the spirit of those machines.
Like the last one I made, there are two flavors: Spaced and Plain. Spaced has some slight panning to imitate an actual kit, and really short reverb to thicken the sound (while still playing nice with any additional reverb you may add). The Plain kit has no panning, and the master reverb is turned all the way down. You can bring it back up to taste if you miss it.
The audio demo’s using SIR Audio’s SIR3 convolution reverb on the default Living Room IR. But I also tested it with Wave Alchemy reverbs and Baby Audio’s Crystalline.
Enjoy!
