Updating a saved user preset?

Saving is fine but after I make tweaks it’s asking for all the same info—file name, folder… If it’s an existing user preset, it should just confirm to save over the original right?

Yes, if you place it in the same folder with the same name it will overwrite the previous preset.

…right but if you miss a char re-typing the name it makes duplicates.

Feature request: auto-populate the preset name field…with the current preset name. Tx.

please make it easier to overwrite a user preset in tekno.

+1.

Saving an edited preset, should display a caution message “are you sure you want to overwrite ?” - which THEN gives the ability to save as a different preset if needed, by renaming it. That’s the way it’s always been for presets, and the way it shall be !

As I’m finding with many parts of Atoms, it’s also inconsistent. Sometimes when I click the save icon, it will pre-populate the name; other times not. It should always display the current preset name.

Also, there are many small UI things that need attention IMO: the user patches should probably be the default—or at least the collection for the most recently edited patch. This makes the most sense during the creative process. I also noticed that there’s no color/border differentiation between the highlighted/non-highlighted collection.

Thanks for the feedback everybody! It’s been noted.

What other QoL things would you like to see in our preset browser? Not entirely new functionality, but small changes that would just make things a little easier on you in the day to day.

tbh I’m not a fan of the “big list” approach. The left-side packs/thumbs are not all that useful–I’d rather see the STRING/BASS/PAD etc categories listed there for quicker auditioning/selection. Packs/names really aren’t that important.

But these are kinda low priority; I think the main engine needs real work–more options/controls for timbral differentiation (ie. profiles), envelopes, meta-LFO, mono/legato/porta mode, more filter options, exciter/distortion/drive controls… This baby needs more toys.
