I use almost everything with the exception of Super VHS because I use TAIP and Magic Switch for those needs. And Parallel Aggressor because I use IHNY-2 for that.

SVHS and PA will still get some action when I’m looking for something very particular, but in general I prefer some of the other options in the catalog. Pitch Drift is always a fun one to use on just about anything. Magic Dice is great when I don’t feel like programming a Spaced Out patch!

Surprisingly, I use a lot of the freebees – I would have to say (and i’m totally jinxing myself here) – The first roll of MagicDice (as in when you load the plugin before you hit the button) I’ve used on so many tracks, it’s like this dark delay, with a filter or some other magic in there. TAIP I love for crunchy drums, or even to lofi a drum line at 50% mix, adds some nice texture. SVHS I really like for Reverb, and this is coming from a guy who swears by Valhalla products.

I find SVHS’s super magic is when you run a classic synth through it (Juno60 or 106 sounds like ABSOLUTE FIRE using this plugin)

PA is pretty great also for that addition punch. I tend to use it on vocals and bass.

Humanoid – Can’t say enough about how awesome this over standard vocoders.

Transit 2 - BA x Andrew == Gold.

Comeback Kid - Love this delay — I use a combination of SVHS, Ripley and CK to generate those “Shimmer” effects like Brian Eno (Or Valhalla Shimmer)

Tekno - Still exploring this one but banging features.

Might be a topic for another thread, but I would love to hear some of those shimmers you’re getting with Comeback Kid. Though I haven’t done so recently I was exploring using Transit 2 for shimmers.

Have you seen the stock shimmer plugin that comes in Cubase 14?! I was very pleased with it.

And getting reverb praise in the same paragraph as Valhalla — we’ll take it! :raising_hands:

Hey Tristan,

Sure! What I typically do is chain SVHS → CK → Ripley (Reason Delay) – The magic is in the feedback loop that gets generated. I typically will run the HPF/LPF on CK – I adjust the frequency range of the feedback in Ripley and from there I pass a single sine wave through it – I’ll try and replicate it and save the patches out for you. (or at least a screenshot what is dialed in) – That’s rad that Cubase has a stock effect for Shimmer  and of course dude, BA is right there with Valhalla, BSA, iZotope, The Cable Guys, etc

I think I use TAIP on 90% of my tracks at the moment, along with Blackhole from Eventide.

Blackhole such an awesome plugin. I use it as my Reverb B send for seriously out there verbs.

I love the Blackhole plugin and I also bought the Blackhole and Space pedals from Eventide. I use them so much that I have started playing live again, so it’s handy having them in pedal format, making it easy to tweak.

Hey Guys,

I wanted to chime in on your Reverb discussion. I’ve never tried Blackhole - However, I find for things like crash cymbals and other one shots; I tend to chain reverb+delay, and occasionally it can get a bit too much so I dial it down to more dry than wet. That said (and I know this is a BA forum and I typically don’t plug other products on different platforms) - but have you tried this:

I saw this on one of the DixonBeats “Free VST” vids (If you haven’t tuned into that guy, highly recommended, he has a great set of reviews and does them often, showcasing the latest deals and freebees – besides his whole line of software/samples/etc) –

This plugin, solved my Reverb+Delay problem (on crash cymbals and one-shots) You can dial in just the right amount of reverb and just the right amount of delay and it’s smashing. Additionally, if you want to get crazy wobble sauce, you can tweak various params that’ll make it feel like the control of the Feedback/Warble you get from Reason’s The Echo (if you are familiar) - but in a Reverb effect. It’s pretty swanky. Just wanted to share  Oh and it’s $0.00
